BRING BACK THE RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINES.

Joseph Herscher builds Rube Goldberg machines in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. In this video he constructs his newest contraption, called “Page Turner.”

A Rube Goldberg machine, contraption, device, or apparatus is a deliberately over-engineered or overdone master that performs a very simple task in a very complex fashion, usually including a chain reaction. The expression is named after American Cartoonist and inventor Rube Goldberg (1883-1970)

Beautiful? Elegant? Efficient? Scientific? All of them yes. A refreshing antidote for everything being automatic, instant, and technological in these fast moving times.
